Have you ever looked at a piece of art and wondered what it is or what it means?
While I find it seems to be a common occurrence with abstracts, you may be surprised to find that other styles of art may reveal mysteries and hidden images. Some may appear to a viewer as one thing, but yet be something entirely different. For instance, take a close look at this painting done by my late Tina Stoffelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03744901209871579453noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624734937090571639.post-59663406336651791702016-09-13T12:47:00.000-07:002016-09-17T08:34:03.285-07:00Distinguishing Original Paintings From Reproductions
While preparing for a recent art show at the Marietta Artisan Market, I've been having some quality reproductions made so that more people can afford and enjoy my art. However, I do want to inform collectors, enthusiasts and beginning artists of the different qualities and types of reproductions as well as how to tell the difference between them and original paintings.

Artist Sharing Concerns
Recently, while networking with a new artist who's work got a phenomenal response, I was asked if they should watermark their work. This artist proceeded to tell me that they don't share much work because they have concern about their works getting copied and stolen. That's too bad because if an artist chooses not to share their work, they are missing out on gettingTina Stoffelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03744901209871579453noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624734937090571639.post-82368627769649928222016-03-14T11:55:00.001-07:002016-03-14T11:57:16.717-07:00Five Tips for Maximizing Your Art Studio TimeFor many artist, myself included, balancing studio time can be a challenge. If you add a frame to your art without breaking the bank, you will find this simple tutorial easy to follow. As a rule of thumb, I do not frame my paintings due to various individual tastes and preferences that will affect a framing style choice. I truly hope you are enjoying your holiday with your family, friends and loved ones.

One of them couldn't wait until Christmas, so I'll be posting soon. Meanwhile, I've been creating some digital art that makes some great home decor during times I haven't had to break out the oil paints. How
To Care For Your Original Oil Painting
Caring for your painting is pretty easy. It has a
varnish on it that will help protect it from dust, dirt, sun damage
and elements. However, do try to avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
Dust your painting as needed with a soft dry
cloth. Never use cleaners, furniture polish or any other chemicals
on your painting.

Since taking my family on Spring Break, and taxiing my children to swim team, I've fallen terribly behind on my blog which is something I never intended to do.
The big news is that during this time, I have also fully moved into my art studio. I'm so excited and happy about having a wonderful dedicated space for my art. I was on vacation with my family and took over 1500 photos. I'm so excited because I have a huge database for reference photos now.
I was just asked by a photographer from an online social networking site, "What are Reference Photos?".
Reference Photos are photos are photos that are used as a reference for derived works Tina Stoffelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03744901209871579453noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4624734937090571639.post-58496988953454423062014-03-06T09:54:00.000-08:002014-03-06T09:54:15.372-08:00Artist Goals and ProgressBelieve it or not, I'm thankful that some of my goals I set around the New Year are a bit delayed due to some commissioned requests, and that is a good thing. Around the time of the New Year, I started with some goals to stay on track. I had to minimize them to be realistic on how many projects I could complete. One thing for sure is I'm not lacking for inspiration. Sometimes when doing a painting you will need to block out an area. Here is a very simple method I learned from artist Darrel Crow.
Items you will need:
Contact paper-sticky type of shelf liner
Cutting surface
Exacto knife
Scissors
Tape
Tracing Paper or a projector
Steps:
1. Project or trace your image onto the contact paper. Some professionals claim it may take several years. Most oil paintings will take a week or two to dry to the touch, but caution must be taken because the layers below the surface layer will still be drying. Oil paints dry due to the oxidation that occurs when pigments bind to air.
